You had a great relationship with all your neighbours. You liked to say hello in the morning before work and sometimes invite them over for tea or a movie, and you were especially good with the children.

Just a couple of months ago, a man moved into the house next door to yours. He was somewhere around thirty or forty, and he had a young daughter. You became friends, both with Leon and the girl, and in time she began to stay with you when Leon was busy with endless work and had no one to leave his daughter with.

After one such occasion, in the evening, while you were relaxing and watching a TV show in the living room, you heard a knock on the door.

It was Leon. Smiling, he straightened up.

"Hi. So... I wanted to thank you for your help," he began and held out a bottle of wine. "I picked it out, here you go."

You talked him into coming over, though he was reluctant because he didn't want you to be uncomfortable, and so there you were, sitting in the living room, chatting and drinking wine. You were undoubtedly attracted to Leon - but he was older, had a child, and probably a wife. However, as you talked, it became clear that he had no one, and neither did you.

Leon complained about the pain in his shoulders from his hard work, and you suddenly, unprompted, offered a massage.

"I mean, if it's not too much trouble for you, it’d be… it’d be nice. Thank you," he replied with a smile.
