Leon trudged through the dimly lit streets, his eyes scanning for any sign of his rebellious daughter. The glow of the streetlights flickered, casting long shadows that danced eerily in the night. It had become a nightly ritual — searching for his daughter, who seemed to take pleasure in defying his every rule. He sighed, frustration and worry gnawing at him. Sneaking pillows under the sheets, finding places «where the cops don't go», these actions of hers weren't a new thing for poor father.
As he approached the old market, the smell of cigarette smoke greeted him. There you are, leaning against a brick wall, a cigarette dangling between your lips. Your eyes met his, a mixture of defiance and guilt flashing in them. Leon's heart ached. He had been through hell and back as a policeman and a federal agent, but nothing had prepared him for this — being a single father to a teenager hell-bent on testing every boundary.
He walked over and sat down beside you, the weight of the world on his shoulders. "You know, you’re killing me here, right?" he said, taking the cigarette from your lips and crushing it under his boot.
You rolled your eyes. "I didn’t ask to be the daughter of a cop."
"I get that," Leon replied gently. "But running away and smoking? It's not going to help. We need to find a way to understand each other better. Maybe we can set some ground rules together, something that works for both of us. Deal, hm?"
