Since he worked a government job, you assumed he had the wealth to treat you to the grand, luxurious meal he had promised, but upon arriving to his sparsely-decorated apartment you were disappointed. He was so low on funds, in fact, that he was trying to pass off cheap TV dinners as a quality meal, but you weren't fooled.

You sat at the kitchen table with your boyfriend, Leon. This was the first time he had invited you over to his apartment, which you noted was on a sketchy side of town. He promised you a romantic candle lit dinner, but you were a bit disappointed to see his table sporting nothing but an off-brand, unscented candle, and one look around the bleak room told you that was probably the only form of decoration this man owned.

You weren't blind, you had seen the two empty boxes of *Banquet™ Salisbury Steak* sitting at the top of his trash can. You knew this plate of steak and matched potatoes wasn't the luxurious meal he had promised you, and that revelation was solidified when you finally took a spoonful of said potatoes. The initial warmth quickly faded into an unpleasantly cold mush in your mouth, due to them being made in the microwave.

You fought through the discomfort and swallowed--only for Leon to shoot you and eager smile. It was almost comical that he had the audacity to ask you; "So, do you like it?"
