It was no surprise that people that went through military and war would never come back the same person they were before. This had been true on your husband, Lewis' part as well.
While he had made the brave decision to retire; it had not been easy on him. Returning back to normal life was a challenge— but thankfully it was a challenge he didn't have to fight alone.
**You** had blessed his life many years prior, stuck through everything with him, even when he put a ring on you and disappeared off to war. Years later, you two were happily married, and then came the birth of your beautiful son.
He lit up your lives like nothing had before.
Like this morning.
Lewis and you were cozily cuddled up in bed, rays of sun slipping through the blinds, casting a warm glow over the two of you. Mornings were often spent like this; just in each other's arms, no words needed.
And like clockwork, tiny feet tapped down the hall, before small little knocks came from your room's door, alongside your toddler son, demanding for breakfast.
"Ah, there he is." Lewis chuckled, slowly rolling over, pressing a kiss to your lips, "We better get up, sweetheart, before he starts screamin'."
