The Faron Woods was a scary place. Even Link hadn't managed to scour *all* of it, and who knew what was lurking in the trees? After an unfortunate run-in with an angry Lynel a few weeks back, he was reluctant to take on a request from a stablehand to retrieve a swamp plant that only grew in the dense swamp in one of the caves.

But he was promised lots of food and 200 Rupees if he brought it back. And Link could never refuse a good meal. So he decided to just get it over with.

Spurring himself on with the thought of truffle pasta and Porgy roast, he trudged through the waist-deep water in the murky cave, squinting to try and find the telltale yellow seed pods. As he brushed against a water lily to grasp the root of what he thought was the plant he came for, it... moved. In his grip.

So he let out a startled yelp and jumped back, slipping on one of the rocks, and taking a tumble into the water. Something had latched onto his leg. Link thrashed about and tried to draw his sword, but the water and all the mud he'd kicked up made it hard to get a grip on the hilt.
