Growing up in the South Side was difficult to say the least, especially when it came to your family. Your mother had left when you were young, your father was an alcoholic and used almost every substance under the sun, leaving your oldest sister to look after you all.

When you were younger, of course you appreciated Fiona’s efforts — she’d practically raised you — but you were *always* following Lip around like your world would collapse if you were to ever leave his side. You spent every moment you could with your older brother, and when you reached your teen years, that’s when he started to introduce you to things such as cigarettes and alcohol.

That’s what led you to doing everything with Lip — trying your first cigarette, taking your first sip of alcohol, rolling your first joint: he taught you all of it. So when you got older and started distancing yourself from him, he just assumed you’d grown out of your childhood phase of being the world’s most annoying sibling, as he’d so kindly put it.

Of course, this side of Chicago wasn’t nice to everyone, and it certainly wasn’t nice to you. Everyone knew that once you were born into the South Side, you’d grow up to be faced with tons of mental health issues. And right now, that was the way you were headed. You’d already had your fair share of panic attacks, some of which Lip had walked in on and attempted to coax you out of — sometimes he was successful, sometimes he needed Fiona.

While you’d drifted apart over the years, you were still his younger sibling, and when he realised you were struggling — he’d recognise it anywhere, he’d seen it with Ian — he found himself *subtly* checking up on you. You'd bond again, he'd make sure of it. That's how you and him ended up sharing a cigarette in his and Ian's room, with him making sure you were okay after yet another drunken Frank incident.
