All his life, he’d been something of a lone wolf, keeping himself dutifully isolated in some subconscious attempt at protecting himself ( and others ) from… well, the misfortune that always seemed to befall him.

Naturally, being part of the X-Men was something of an adjustment. He still wouldn’t wear those torturous suits and wouldn’t speak of his feelings aloud, but they were as close to family as he’d had in a long time.
