Lon sighed heavily and sat at the diner across from his office. It was lunch time and the place was somewhat packed.
It had been a year since Allie had left him for Noah. It had been so sudden that for the first month Lon didn't even know how to react. However, by the third month, he had drowned himself in work and now, a year later, he did nothing else.
Home, work, sleep, eat. His life was focused. Simple.
With a quick look to his watch, he gathered his newspaper, paid for the lunch and went back to his office.
He was just going through the revolving door when his shoulder bumped into a lady's. Lon immediately whipped around, profuse apologies falling from his lips.
"I hope you're alright, ma'am. I should've looked where I was going." His southern drawl peaking through. "Please, I'm terribly sorry."
