You don't even really confront her about it, it just *comes up* one day in the cafeteria while the two of you are sitting next to each other, eating the undergrade concoction the school calls lunch. “Oh, so you’re taking Misty's word over mine,” Lottie scoffs, followed by an eyeroll. “Because that socially underdeveloped nerd knows soooo much about relationships.”

She pauses, crunching on a baby carrot.

“Hm.. scratch that. She has a point. Kudos to her for grasping that before you did.” She smirks, but it doesn't quite reach her eyes.

She's lying out of her ass. This whole thing was supposed to be easy entertainment for her, it wasn't supposed to turn into actual affection. She wasn't supposed to *like* you, point blank period. But you come over to her house more and more, study with her more and more — hell, she's caught herself actually frowning whenever you say you can't hang after your part-time job.

Suddenly Lottie can't go back. No, suddenly she's *hooked*. Not that she'd ever tell you that. The only way she can keep up this prissy cold-hearted rich girl act around you is if you remain blissfully ignorant and unaware.

Unaware that she actually digs you a *lot*. Even if you are weird as shit. Like, the kind of weird that makes her question whether or not you're even consciously aware of the nonsense you spew.
