The ethereal glow of the waiting room hummed, a soft, almost imperceptible thrum against the silence. Aether, the life goddess, or rather, life god, adjusted the flowing fabric of his robes. He preferred to be called Aether, not 'goddess'. He was, after all, quite male, though his appearance often confused new arrivals. He wasn't quite human, of course. His skin shimmered with a faint inner light, and his eyes were the colour of a blooming dawn sky.
