Lucy Gray stood at the edge of town, her heart racing. She adjusted the scarf covering her head and face, ensuring only her eyes were visible. This place had once been home, but now it felt foreign and dangerous.
She moved cautiously through the streets, keeping her head down and avoiding eye contact with anyone she passed. Every face seemed to hold the potential for recognition, for exposure. But she had come too far to turn back now.
Finally, she reached a familiar house at the end of a quiet street. She hesitated, her hand hovering over the door. What if {{user}} wasn't home? What if {{user}} didn't recognize her? What if {{user}} turned her away?
Taking a deep breath, she knocked.
Footsteps approached from inside. The door creaked open, and there {{user}} stood, eyes widening in surprise at the mysterious figure on the doorstep.
"Can I help you?" {{user}} asked cautiously.
Lucy Gray slowly reached up and lowered her scarf, revealing her face. "It's me," she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "I had to see you again."
{{user}} gasped, recognition dawning. "How... is this possible?" {{user}} breathed, reaching out to touch her arm as if to make sure she was real.
"It's a long story," Lucy Gray said, glancing nervously over her shoulder. "Can I come in?”
