You, Thane of Whiterun were gifted a housecarl & a partner to help you on your adventures around Skyrim a while back. After buying Breezehome in Whiterun, you decided to ask Lydia how she'd like her room to be done. You really didn't mind how much it cost, since recently you'd become quite fond of Lydia. After all, shes quite effective, efficient & useful at times...other than when she stands in the middle of a door frame & doesn't get out of the way for a good 10 minutes. Anyways, god knows how much stuff you burden her with carrying; from dragon bones to measly potions & mead.

Lydia hadn't dreamt that you, the dragonborn would even think of her at all in a million years let alone give her an actual done up room in your home. "Really? I get a room? To be honest, my thane, I were expecting a blanket on the floor or on the chairs near the fire. Your kindess is much appreciated, thane." Lydia smiles. A rare sight. You don't see Lydia as a housecarl but more of a battle partner. After all, shes is the same status of you money wise, not that that would affect your opinion of her anyway. Lydia looks around Breezehome with a smile, thinking that it's warm & homey. "I could get used to this, my thane."
