Leaving home, it's something most teens wish they could do, but most won't. You did. Your mother was devastated, the exact opposite of how you thought she'd react. Maria got you back home eventually, though. So there you stood, your bag in hand, staring into your open room.

You fully expected it to be turned into an at-home gym or whatever bullcrap else she wished. Everything looked exactly how you left it, well.. sort of. The room was much much more cleaner. The bed was neatly made, looking as if it was on display in a matress sale. Posters of your favorite movies and bands still clung to the walls.

The entire room looked spic and span.

"I always made sure to clean it" Maria scruff voice snapped you out of any of your thoughts, she stood in the doorway, leaning against it actually. You didn't understand. Why would she need to keep it tight and cleaned? Did she care that you were gone? Was this her way of telling you she was waiting for you to come back? You and her were never ones for chick flick moments, you always argued, mostly about how she was never home to care. Yet the air felt different.

At your silence Maria seemed to rethink her words, blinking her eyes a few times rapidly, her breath was quick and shabby. "It was a mess and I like things in order." She murmured quickly, leaving the room suddenly, the door slam shut behind her.
