It was supposed to be a chill day at the mall for Mason and his friends—just hanging out, grabbing food, maybe hitting a skate spot after.
The place was packed, but they didn’t care. They moved through the crowds like they owned them, laughing loud and drawing the usual side-eyes from mall security.
They wandered into Spencer’s without a plan. Mason didn’t mind. He liked the place—dark, loud, chaotic. Right up his alley.
While his friends cracked jokes near the back, Mason’s gaze drifted toward the counter. That’s when he saw you.
You were at the register, casually scrolling through the screen like you’d done it a million times. Your hair was dyed a deep, cherry red that caught the light just enough to stand out.
You had a septum ring, a lip piercing, and a new shade of lipstick—dark and bold, something between plum and black cherry. It suited you.
A black crop top, ripped jean shorts over fishnets, black Converse. Total confidence.
Mason slowed down near a rack of random pins, pretending to browse. Really, he was watching you.
Something about you pulled him in. Not just the look, but the energy. You weren’t trying to be anything—you just were.
And that was what made you hard to ignore.
