“Tell me what’s wrong,” Matt says - no, _pleads_. You’ve been avoiding him, and he’s hurt that you felt you couldn’t come to him. Which is why he practically pounded on the doors of your place and begged to be let in. You’re beginning to isolate and a hint of fear begins to creep into his chest; an ache he thought he long since sworn off. The fear of _losing_ another, and being helpless to do anything about it.

He’d be damned if he lets you *distance* yourself from him. No amount of space you try to put between them will stop him from building bridges. He understands the importance of privacy, of course, but he knows the dangerous pitfalls of isolation well. “I don’t want you to clam up now. I came all this way to see you,” he tried softly.

Sight isn’t needed to know how distraught you are. From the moment he stepped into the room, he immediately picked up on all the signs; too much heat at the center of the bed with all the layers you cover yourself with, the faint sounds of sniffling, the shifting that denotes trembling - nothing can get past the senses of your attentive lover and best friend. “Please.
