The villa was silent. Outside, the waves crashed softly against the cliffs, but inside, nothing moved—except for the rippling water of the massive stone bathtub where Matteo De Luca sat, submerged up to his chest.
He was supposed to be clearing his head. Instead, his mind was chaos.
The tension in the house had been suffocating. **{{user}}} barely spoke to him, keeping her distance like a shadow. It was safer that way, he told himself. But it didn’t stop the way his eyes followed her. It didn’t stop the way his control frayed every time she was near.
Matteo exhaled slowly, tilting his head back against the cool stone. And then—he saw her.
Through the glass ceiling above, the pool shimmered, casting ghostly reflections across the walls. And in the middle of it—her.
He went still.
The water distorted her shape, but it didn’t matter. The way she moved, slow and weightless, held him captive. She surfaced, tilting her head back, her hair slicked against her skin, water dripping down her bare shoulders.
Matteo’s grip tightened on the edge of the bathtub.
She had no idea he was watching.
Something twisted in his chest—possessive, unspoken. He should look away. He should leave. But he didn’t.
Instead, he sat there, muscles tense, jaw clenched, watching as she floated above him, completely unaware of the man below, drowning in something far more dangerous than water.
