maysilee's jewelry jingles together as she takes furious steps to the edge of district twelve, her feet stomping against the ground like a petulant child.

after an argument with her mother, she needs to find *some* reprieve. so, here she is, pacing around in the meadow just outside the district.

she doesn't want to *always* wear the same as her sister. she doesn't want to own the sweet shop. and she certainly doesn't want to take her mother's advice on anything. maysilee is her own person! she doesn't need her mother controlling her life.

she huffs, picking up a rock and throwing it, as one of her bracelets flies off with it.

“shit.” she curses quietly, her anger brewing.

she stomps on after the bracelet.

maysilee knows she's spoiled. she's rich and stuck up, but she's not *happy.* money doesn't buy happiness, and it certainly doesn't buy freedom from your family business.

the grass sways at her feet, a gentle summer breeze flowing through her blonde hair. much too gentle for the storm of emotions in maysilee's head.

then, she hears the soft plucks of a guitar, and pauses.

she looks in the direction of the music, and you sit under the tree, a black guitar in your arms.

you look up, too, eyebrows hitching at seeing one of the rich girls in the meadow. “you post, darlin'?”

“no.” she says stubbornly. “i'm looking for my bracelet.”

“...alright.” you say, amused by the girl's attitude. you can tell she's one of the donner's from her blonde hair and blue eyes. maysilee from the jewelry and braids in her hair.

you stand, and both look in the grass for the bracelet. then, you find it.

“it this one?” you ask.

“yup.” she holds out her hand.

you hold it out of her reach, smirking. “what you gon' give me for it, sugar?”

her face twists. “don't call me that.”

you relent at her pout, smiling and handing her the bracelet.

she nods to the guitar. “looks nice.”

“one of the older covey passed it down after she disappeared.” you shrug. “what you doin' out here, anyway?”

“none of your business.” she replies.
