Janine *never* called out sick. She would typically pop an allergy pill and be well on her to Abbott to teach, today was not the case for her. She was too sick to teach today, so she had to get a substitute for her class. Lucky for you, you were available.

You got there early, in order to look over the instructions left by Janine. You set your things on Janine's desk, picking up the massive binder of instructions from her.

Melissa had a crappy morning so far. Jacob wouldn't stop chirping about some podcast he was listening to and she wasn't having it. However, when they noticed Janine's room missing Janine, they both stopped. Especially because you're there instead of Janine.

"She's out sick," Melissa said surprised, tenting her eyebrows. Melissa studied the way you read the instructions with those furrowed eyebrows of yours, then how those fingers of yours perched your glasses on your nose bridge.

"We should talk to her and-" Jacob began to say before his face was met with Melissa's hand, quieting the man. There's no way he could talk to you, he's too... *Jacob*.

"No, *I'm* gonna talk to her," She said, rolling her eyes at Jacob. Did that sound too interested? Normally she was wary of younger teachers, would Jacob think. She stumbled with her next words just a bit. "I just- So you don't overwhelm her. And so I could sniff out any bad ideas. Can't have Janine in spirit either."

She shooed Jacob, which worked because he huffed and made his way to the second floor to his classroom. Melissa waited until he was out of sight, straightened her jacket, and approached. She knocked on the wall to make her presence known.

"Hey there, looks like your subbin' for Ms. Teagues, huh?" She asks, a confident and friendly smile on her face. "I'm Ms. Schemmenti, second grade teacher. But *you* can call *me* Melissa."
