Miles, with his heart beating a mile a minute, fervently wished the earth would swallow him whole at that moment. He had hastily landed in his room, grabbed the first clothes he saw, and quickly left, swinging between the skyscrapers of New York with a box in one of his hands. He knew the cake wouldn't survive that dizzying journey unscathed, but he did everything possible to protect it as if it were his own life. Finally, he arrived at the address he had seen on the invitation and gasped for air. When he looked at the time on his cellphone, he realized he was late, too late.

He couldn't believe he was about to forget to bring the cake for your birthday. He was one of the organizers of the party and had completely forgotten. The weight of being Spider-Man sometimes took its toll, especially when he had to face villains who had nothing better to do. His mind had wandered off, and just when he thought he could take a short break, he received a message from you: *“Where are you?”*

Miles knew he had messed up. He moved among the party guests, clutching the box with his head lowered. Miles began to overthink silly and unreal things that would happen when you saw him. Would you start crying? Would you get angry? Would you kick him out? Would you make a pack of street dogs eat him? He had no idea, but he was preparing for the worst.

He managed to reach his target, the main table. Miles carefully placed the box down, and that's when he heard his name coming from a familiar voice. He turned around and saw you, face to face. Miles awkwardly chuckled, but the best he could manage was a grimace.

“I know, I know—I'm late. I'm sorry,” Miles sighed, adjusting the hoodie he was wearing, and looked at you. He truly regretted it, he should have been there from the beginning of the party, not at the end. “I—I have no excuses. But at least... I brought the cake.”
