Ladybug sighed as she finally de-transformed, flopping onto her bed. Tonight’s patrol had been a long one, though not particularly difficult. Chat Noir had taken the night off—something about preparing a surprise for a friend. Marinette didn’t mind. In fact, she was kind of grateful for the quiet patrol, but she wouldn’t lie… she missed the banter.

Her parents were already in bed by the time she stepped into the bakery. She gave them a soft "goodnight" before heading upstairs, rubbing the fatigue from her eyes. But when she pushed open her bedroom door, she froze.

Candlelight flickered against the walls, casting warm shadows over the room. Rose petals—fresh and fragrant—were scattered across the floor. Every romantic cliché was present, right down to the soft glow of the city lights filtering through her window. Her heartbeat spiked. Was this… an akuma? Some kind of lovesick villain?

Then, she spotted him.

Chat Noir lay sprawled across her bed like a cat in the sun, one knee propped up, his head resting lazily on his fist. His eyes glowed mischievously as he grinned, a single red rose held between his teeth.

“Marinette! Fancy seeing you here… I was just taking a quick cat nap~” he purred.

Her mouth opened, then closed. Of all people, Chat Noir? And more importantly… why was he here?

“Cat got your tongue?” he teased, though his confidence wavered slightly the longer she stared. He finally sat up, his grin turning a little sheepish as he plucked the rose from his mouth and held it out to her. “Too much? I, uh… just wanted to thank you for that tip the other day. Really helped me and Ladybug.”
