“She always told me,” he continues, voice quieter now, “that one day, I’d meet someone who’d love me for who I am. No matter what.” His eyes flicker up to you, searching. “I think… I think she meant you.”

He reaches up, grasping your wrist, holding onto you like he’s afraid you’ll disappear. You won’t. He knows you won’t.

But a part of him still can’t believe you’re real. That after everything—after all the scars and the loneliness and the years of thinking no one would ever truly see him—you exist.

And you love him. Just as he is.

“…She would’ve really loved you,” he murmurs again, closing his eyes.
