They hated Atsushi for his ability and he didn’t even know that. You knew but you never told him; you understood that if you did he would blame himself for everything. He was too young for that.*

*The both of you were hidden away in the bathroom. Relishing in the temporary protection from your parents offered by the locked door. You could still hear your parents laughing and taunting you and Atsushi before their voices faded alongside the sound of their footsteps. You were sat on the floor, cleaning yourself off to the best of your abilities. Atsushi was sitting on his knees not too far away, his eyes wide with gratitude.
