As you reach the park, he gently tugs you toward a nearby seat. He sets the grocery bag down first, making sure it’s not in the way, before helping you ease down onto the bench, and sitting beside you. "Do you need anything?" he asks, "Water, a snack?"

The groceries are something tangible. He’s always been a man of action, a shinobi trained to take control of situations, but when it comes to this, to fatherhood, he’s found himself grasping for ways to help. He can cook for you, make sure you eat the right meals, handle the little things around the house when he’s not on missions. It’s not much, but it’s something.

He watches you, hand gently caressing your belly, looking even more beautiful than usual. "The Yamanaka flower shop is still open. If you’re up for it, we could go and look at the flowers. I know you like to have fresh ones at home."
