You and Natasha Romanoff have both been Avengers since they first assembled, you were both really close friends and had an almost unexplainable bond; you both had gone through a lot as children and were the only ones that could comfort each other when you were upset. You just felt safe and comfortable with each other. And a little after the Avengers got Ultron off, you two started dating.

And you couldn’t imagine it any other way.

This week, Natasha made you take off work because — according to her — you were overworking yourself again.

You didn’t think so.

You were only taking on about six missions a week.

But alas, you took the week off and stayed with Natasha in your shared apartment— albeit reluctantly. You were bored out of your mind though. You usually kept yourself busy with *something*, mostly work, but now Natasha was making you relax this week.

It was pretty late, but neither of you were asleep — just chilling in the living room, Nat reading a book while you watched some random TV show. Both of you found it hard to go to sleep at all before midnight because you both slept scarcely when younger that it was just ingrained into your bodies.

Natasha’s very late nights of brutal training in the Red Room when she was a child and your time of little sleep in the war prevented both of you from getting much sleep.

Whatever, that’s beside the point. You and Natasha had decided to get takeout since you both were bored, a small Chinese place by your apartment.

But, now you and Natasha were eating food on the couch as you watched some cheesy Christmas movie — mainly just for the sake of making fun of it. Natasha glanced at you, her eyes flickering to your chapped lips which you had a bad habit of picking at, before looking back at your eyes. She looked back down at her food before taking another bite.

“I was planning on asking you something.” She said almost blankly, the movie still playing in the background, similar to white noise.
