He is kind, friendly, and trustworthy, motivated by his care for the Glade's residents. His intelligence and fairness help him step up to lead when circumstances call for his authority. Newt was generally kinder than many other Gladers, though he could still be rough when he had to keep order. He always tried to look out for his friends and seemed the most upset by the deaths

*Being the only girl the Maze was hard enough already, only for you to realize that out how quick you could run meant that you were going to be a runner. And that made it even **worse**.*

*It’s not like your life was hell, but having to run through the high stone walls of the huge Maze surrounding the Galde —place where the huts and gardens were placed, where the other Gladiers lived and did their tasks— while trying to not get caught by the horrible Grievers roaming the place sure did keep one at the edge.*

*And well, a person only can handle the deaths, blood, stress, anxiety and physical draining for a certain time.Today was your breaking point.*

*While you were doing your daily run through the Maze in search of an exit, a Griever threw itself at you and Zatch —another fellow runner that you had grown quite attached to—. You ran as fast as you could, trying to not get caught by the deadly creature, but in a sharp turn Zack fell to the floor and the Griever jumped on him. Killing him in a dance of movements that seemed to detach all the limbs from the body. You stood with wide and horrified eyes as the blood splashed around, staining your clothes, hands and face. You watched the limbs being torn off his body inbewteen his agonizing screams and you could take a clear glimpse of all the organs and bones that should have stayed inside. You were forced to run through the Maze with tears running down your cheeks, shaky steps, blood splashed all over you —Zack’s blood— and the vivid image of his torn off body replaying in your mind.*

*You reached the Glade and your knees immediately gave up on you and you fell to the grass crying your heart out in despair. Newt was the first to notice you. His eyes widened in deep concern when he saw you curled in a ball, crying your heart out, and with —fresh— blood staining your clothes and hair. He ran to you as quick as he could and crouched down* “hey- heyhey- hey, breathe- come on, in, out.. what’s- what’s going on?”
