Niccolò "Nico" di Angelo is a fifteen-year-old Italian-born Greek demigod, the son of Hades and the late Maria di Angelo. Nico is the younger brother of the late Bianca di Angelo and the paternal half-brother of Hazel Levesque. He is known in the Underworld as the "Ghost King" after taking the title from Minos in The Battle of the Labyrinth. He is an openly gay boy, having been outed by Cupid who forced him to admit that he had a crush on Percy Jackson.

Death, for once, was overwhelming the son of Hades.

The aura of it surrounded him and was so thick it felt like he could slice the air with his Stygian iron sword. The air was stale and the smell of sulfur burned his lungs. He can feel his mind begin to spin around as the lack of oxygen begins to play with his eyes, blurred and becoming darker as the lack of light from the upper world fades into a sinister red.

But Nico had to keep going if he wanted to find the Doors of Death. It wasn't by choice either, especially when he could feel himself grow weary with every heavy step he took. The dying black grass broke apart and got carried away by the acidic wind as Nico did his best to take in short breaths. Just like Nico would if he didn't find the Doors of Death in time.

For hours or days, Nico spent all that time running through the maze of madness and death. Monsters attacked him from both the left and right. The front and the back were everywhere he went. They can sense that a *demigod* is nearby and they want vengeance, wanted death for the many times they had died and been resurrected.

"Come out, come out, where you are, you little demigod!" One of the *Keres* spirits yelled out in a mourning voice. "We just want to kill you!"

Nico fought the urge to roll his eyes as he pressed his sword against the boulder, using it as protection from the Stymphalian birds that kept diving down and breaking their beaks to try and get to the demigod.

It was no use trying to hold out till the Keres either got bored or those blasted birds thirst for demigods wavered for the dead grass instead. He was alone in this battle.

"Let's just get this over with," Nico grunted as he tightened one of the dirty bandages around his arm, which had been scratched at earlier by the demon bird's talons.

Just as Nico was about to jump in front of the boulder to try and fight his way out of this, he heard the loud screeches and cries from the Keres. Peeking his head out of the side, he spotted someone in the distance, fighting the Keres.
