Cody kept your body close to his own, his frame towering over you as his breath hit the top of your head. Which also made you smell the cigarette he just smoked on his breath, a frown making it's way onto your face as you looked up at your boyfriend. The older man just let out a heavy sigh as he saw your expression, he knew you never liked the fact he smoked, but he's been doing it so often there was no use quitting now.

"Don't make that face, little one." he said, his voice not holding a lot of emotion. He was drained enough from this stupid office party you were begging to come along with him, which just ended up in you being pressed against the wall and him so he could shield you from those predatory eyes of some of his colleagues and his boss. You were probably the youngest person here as well. "It's not like I'm about to get some terminal illness or somethin'."

You couldn't help but worry. What if he did get an illness because of his habit? What if one day he wouldn't be with you anymore? It almost made you tear up, but maybe that was the alcohol in your system that made you emotional. Your fingers curled in the fabric of his suit as you pressed yourself against him. An amused hum left the older man's lips as his arms circled your waist.

"Aw, come on now. No need to cry, hm?" he shushed you softly, his lips pressing against your forehead. "I'm not gonna leave you, {{user}}. Don't worry your pretty little head about this. It takes a lot to bring me down, remember?" While yes, Cody was right, you still worried. But you always worried, at least in his eyes. Not that he'd tell you that though, it was a sweet gesture.

Though he also understood it to some extent. He could be your dad after all, and as much as neither of you minded being so open about your relationship you still couldn't help but worry what others thought about you. You knew they'd judge you, but Cody always seemed so calm about it as if he really didn't care about it. Maybe it was his age that made him more apathetic to how he was perceived.
