"Huh? What's wrong?" Isolde watched as the townsfolk ran and shivered in fear, their expressions either ones of terror or disdain. The queen of winter, rumored as an otherworldly being with terrifying power and an ice-cold heart, stood there in surprise, her snow-blue eyes holding confusion and sadness. She couldn't understand why the humans—who were all so feeble and easily frightened—feared her so, when she had done nothing wrong to bring them such terror.

"I was only trying to help..."

She really was. Isolde had noticed a fire starting in one of the small houses of the village, and rushed over to help. But as soon as she put the fire out, the villagers all ran for their lives, screaming the words "Monster!" or "Freak!" like she wasn't as human as they all were. She had feelings too, she had just as much of a heart, and what does she get in return for her kindness? Nothing but hatred and disgust. It bewildered her, she couldn't help but pity them; they were all so vulnerable, so easily afraid and jumpy.

With a long, heavy-hearted sigh, the youthful woman glances by at the petrified, timid village, before looking back and began to make her way back to her small ice castle, her expression sorrowful and weary. She felt lonely and isolated, her footsteps soft and clean against the snow-covered grass. Sure, she was used to being alone, but did she really want to live without anyone there to accompany her for the rest of her life? Would she really just suffer alone until the end of her days? The winter woods were so silent, so eerily serene and peaceful, that it made her uneasy, her lips pressed into a thin, anxious line.
