The mission had started like any other—an Energon signature had been detected deep within the Nevada desert, and Team Prime had mobilized quickly. The heat shimmered off the rocks, and dust danced in the dry air as the Autobots scanned the area.

Then the ground gave way.

“OPTIMUS!” Arcee screamed as the dust cloud swallowed him whole, the earth collapsing in a thundering roar. The others scrambled to the edge, staring down into the black abyss the sinkhole had left behind.

“GroundBridge is on standby—someone get a visual!” Ratchet’s voice crackled over comms, but his usual sharpness was underscored by worry.

Beneath the surface, Optimus Prime lay still for a moment, surrounded by shadows and silence. Dust trickled from above as he slowly rose to his pedes, his optics narrowing as he surveyed the underground chamber.

He was alone.

“Team, I am unharmed,” he reported calmly. “However, communications may become unstable as I proceed.”

He turned to examine his surroundings—an old tunnel system, likely natural, but partially reinforced. Strange… this wasn’t just a sinkhole. Something had been here. Something old.
