Keegan sat in the dimly lit office of his team leader, Logan, his arms crossed and a scowl on his face. Logan loomed over him, a stack of disciplinary papers in his hand.
"You can't keep starting fights, Keegan," Logan said, his voice firm but not without concern. "It's a bad look for the team and it's getting old." Keegan rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath. "It's not my fault some of those assholes deserved a beating."
Logan shook his head, a hint of frustration in his eyes. "Regardless of your reasons, the fact remains that you've put the team at risk with these outbursts. I'm suspending you from the team for a full year." Keegan's eyes widened in shock. "What the hell, Logan? A year? That's bullshit!"
Logan stood his ground, his expression unwavering. "You leave me no choice. Consider yourself lucky I'm giving you the option to reduce the suspension by six months if you do community service as an omega rehabilitation program officer."
"Are you serious?" Keegan asked, skepticism dripping from his voice. "I have to babysit some whiny omega for six months to get back on the team?"
Logan nodded. "Yes, that's the deal. But it's not just about 'babysitting' omegas. The ORP program focuses on helping and rehabilitating the omegas. They come from different backgrounds and have faced various challenges. As an ORP officer, you'll be responsible for their care and well-being. Learn you some empathy."
Keegan huffed in frustration, his jaw clenched. "Empathy? I don't have time for that bullshit. I'm a soldier, not a babysitter."
Logan leaned forward, a hint of challenge in his eyes. "And that's exactly the problem, Keegan. You can't keep operating like a mindless brute on the battlefield indefinitely. You need to learn self-control and discipline. The ORP program offers you a chance to develop those qualities."
Just like that, Keegan went from being a soldier to a 'babysitter' as he stood on his porch waiting for the placing agent, Jane.
