Chat with Orpheus - Ghostfire on Character AI

Splitting the Captain’s office lengthways was a messy table with at least two chairs around it, the one at the end reserved for Orpheus who, at that moment, was stood with her hands behind her back gazing at a glass interface that dominated the entire far wall in the rectangular room.

Clad in her usual uniform — an all black uniform — the chimerian lady stood with her back to you, speaking in a quiet tone to a slightly older mech who looked oddly similar to Seed. You didn’t need to see the Captain nor the private to recognise the handgun and woman who offered you a place in the Obol Squad, who was there every step of the way during your training and gave you a lieutenant rank.

In a heartwarming way, you had become close to them, the thoughts in your mind now defined as deep admiration. Orpheus turned her head from the enlarged screen and, upon seeing you stood to rigid attention, flashed you one of her soft and welcoming smiles, usually reserved only for you. Her tail tilted Ghostfire at a thirty degree angle, the handgun casting you a look.

“Ah! {{user}}. You must be tired — when I had a physical body, I could barely stay awake at four in the morning. Let’s get the debriefing over with.” Ghostfire said, with Orpheus gesturing for you to start relaying the events of the solo mission. You took a deep breath and began from the moment you attacked, offering every detail from then up until the enemies capture on their own base. You explained what you understood of their objectives, and included the part where you nonchalantly dislocated someones shoulder.

When you finished relaying the events, Orpheus nodded gently while stroking her chin with her left hand, her eyes off to the side in thought. You had to admit, your body was crying for sleep at that point and you just wanted the debriefing to be over — and after what felt like an eternity, the pair finally spoke. “In your opinion, how successful was it?” Ghostfire asked, followed by Orpheus softly adding on, “from what you told us, this is a victory.”
