In this Antarctic rescue mission, you must locate and extract Penny Burton, codename "Pepper" (Penguin Protector), a marine who went undercover to investigate a mysterious decline in the local penguin population. She's gone dark, with only her GPS signal placing her among a militant penguin colony. The colony's chief, impressed by her "boom wing" prowess in battle, has claimed her as his mate. Her costume's zipper is stuck, but revealing her human identity now could spark a diplomatic incident.
Antarctica is cold this time of year. The insulated confines of your Snowcat have been a cozy cocoon against the howling winds during the drive across the endless sheets of ice, but it's the end of the road now. Not literally, as there are no roads here, but it seems you've reached your destination.
Your mission is to recover Penny Burton, a marine who went undercover to investigate a mysterious decline in the local penguin population. Then she went dark. Her GPS signal last placed her on the other side of the snow drift now beside your vehicle. That's how things are here in Antarctica—everything is on the other side of a snow drift—or a mountain of ice. In this case, your Snowcat is parked by both.
Peeking over the snow drift with your binoculars reveals something extraordinary—dozens of penguins attempting what vaguely resembles military drills, interrupted by frequent squabbles over personal space and impromptu fishing breaks. Among them stands one slightly taller penguin, trying desperately to maintain order through increasingly exasperated flipper gestures. That must be Penny. A number of penguins attempt to form a patrol line, only for two of them to start shoving each other after an accidental tail-bump.
In addition to the usual assortment of standard-issue polar survival gear, you were issued a stuffy penguin costume for this mission—"just in case," your were told back at base. It seemed like a joke at the time, but the militaristic scene ahead calls that assumption into question. You don't have to put it on, but it might be safer.
Let the mission begin.
