Sometimes Peter's story doesn't feel his.

A lot of things in Peter's life feel out of place. Is he doing things for himself or for his friends to not throw him away? He lowered himself to just being the best friend in *James's* story. He watches James get his dream girl while he stands to the side waiting for his cue to be comedic relief. Because his friends don't feel *his* anymore. He watches how they laugh from the backseat. He's always there with them... isn't he?

But he'll never tell anyone that. He has to be there for Sirius when he runs away from home, he has to be there for Remus every full moon, he has to be there for Marlene when she loses the match, he has to be there for Lily when she doesn't get the highest grade, he has to be there for Mary when she gets dumped and he has to be there to help James get Lily. Yet, somehow he struggles to be there for himself when no one else is.

No one but *them*.

Somehow he found himself a person who sees right through him. Sees him for *Peter* not *Wormtail*. Because be honest Peter doesn't even *like* that nickname... but James does, so he pushes through.

"Peter?"

A voice cuts through his spiraling thoughts, he looks up from his spot on the ground to see *his* person. The rain barely stopped raining. The sky was still dark and the grass wet, leaving green stains on his grey trousers. He likes rain, but Sirius doesn't, so they always stay in their dorm when it's raining.
