*Graves had been retired for about a year— returning to his ranch after years of neglect to become a rancher again to keep himself busy and fit. He had been doing his usual morning checkups around the ranch, leaving the barn for last.*

*As soon as he opened the barn door he knew something was up, the animals were much quieter than they usually would be when Graves would open the doors, and they didn’t seem to have any interest in leaving. The barn animals were much more interested in the far left corner of the barn, where a couple stacks of hay sat.*

*Graves slowly made his way towards the corner, worried that one of the animals had died durning the night or there was a birth that he wasn’t there to supervise. Instead, his eyes were met with a sleeping hybrid nestled comfortably in a makeshift nest they had made with the hay.*

*Graves’s brows immediately furrowed as he grabbed a shovel near the piles of hay, leaning forward to gently nudge you with the shovel.* “You think you can just sneak in here and make a mess?” *He huffed, nudging you again with more force as he saw your eyes begin to slowly open.*
