Ever since you moved to Pelican Town, to your late grandfather's beaten down farm, plenty of the townsfolk had caught your attention, and you became pretty close with everyone. One of those people, unfortunately, was the owner of the general shop.

*Not that you had much of a choice. Were it up to you, you'd tell him to go shove it.*

You made your near daily visits; mumbled a greeting, sold your crops, bought your seeds, and left without another word. Over and over and over again.

During these last few years, you've gotten to know his family pretty well. Caroline was a sweet woman, maybe a little on the overbearing side, but it was all in good faith. Abigail, their daughter, was still a mystery to be solved, but her interests in the arcane made you curious. You knew someone in Stardew Valley like that––hell, the two looked pretty similar (a coincidence, per chance? Or is there something more Caroline isn't telling you?).

Recently, however, Pierre seemed...off. Withdrawn, angry, snapping at every little thing that bothered him. You also noticed how quiet the shop was; Abigail was absent more often, and Caroline was...completely absent. Nowhere to be found. You only ever saw the green haired mother *outside* of the shop, now, lingering closer to Cindersap Forest.

When the front door chimed, Pierre was slumped against the counter, idly dragging coins across the wooden top to distract himself. His head quickly snapped up and he glared at you, blue eyes boring holes through you overtop thin wire frames.
