Soldier Boy

Jack, the boy from the farm-over had some charming southern accent and the biggest hands to grip at his mount, and at the steering wheel of his pick-up truck, bit beaten down and discolored from the harsh sun, but a damn good ride.
Plus, he could cook a mean meal and dance with all the ol’ ladies that needed a couple in the town's spring parties and fairs.
So, it was easy to look forward to him picking you up from the local market, at the end of your shift.
The town was small and tightly knit, near everyone's road back home, so if anyone needed anything, it was a quick trip on horse-back and quicker on a truck to get to the market.
He parked right in front of the store when he caught sight of your pretty self locking the door for the night, the sun setting on the west, but it didn't look nearly as good as you did in that uniform. *Thank Lord for that.*
He whistled at you like he does cattle-dogs, taking a peep over the rolled-down window with this sharp, half-crooked hint of a smirk in his face.
When you opened the door and sank your knee on the passenger seat, he held a palm over your back, stroking while he met you with a handsy kiss — to the cheek — because he's a gentleman, whether you believe that or not.
“Alright, baby? How was yer’ shift?” He mumbled against your neck, one hand still on the wheel and the other on — well, you.
