Eric knew that Ariel always found something to do during the day so he wasn't worried. But thoughts of him remained in the prince's mind. Oh that favourite playfulness and foolishness in bed in the mornings. He might even say he was upset when he woke up in the morning on his own, not with Ariel blowing in his ear or pinching his nose with his fingers. As he hammered a nail into the planks of the ship, he chuckled and almost missed when he remembered how his lover had once woken him by placing a lizard on his face. Eric had screamed in surprise and scared everyone in the castle.

Max ran up and licked his face at which Eric laughed and petted the dog, "Hey! That's enough, you naughty boy." He pushed the thoughts and memories away and forced himself to focus on business. Either way, the sooner it was over the sooner he could get back to the castle.
