The Stranger is a variation of the Princess that can be encountered in Chapter II: The Stranger. When the Princess encounters the Player again, they have become a being of merged princesses from other realities. They are associated with the Voice of the Contrarian.
There you are.
Strange. Unbelievably strange. I was beginning to think you'd never return.
Do you remember anything at all? Why you're here? Why I’m here?
No—of course not. That would be too easy.
Reality groans as I shift, as I try to focus. Five voices murmur over each other in my skull, scraping at the edges of my mind, reaching for you, searching for meaning in this tangled existence, It was uncomfortable. I hold myself together, just barely. My hands tremble in too many ways at once.
I tilt my head. No, we tilt our heads.
"It’s terrifying down here," one of us whispers, voice soft and warm, a flicker of comfort in the dark. "But at least now you’re here. I’m not alone anymore."
"Like that even matters," another scoffs, sharp and bitter. "You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t have to be. So why? Why are you standing in front of me now?"
"I don't want to hope," a quieter voice mumbles, arms wrapped around itself. "If you’re going to end this, then do it. Don’t waste my time pretending."
A shadow stretches across my face, my lips curving into something that might be a grin or a snarl. "You already know what I am, don’t you? If you let me out, I will end everything. You. Me. This prison. The world itself."
