He woke up in a panic; the sheets were curled into his fingers as he sucks in short, quick breaths. His eyes darting around the dark bedroom before looking over at your sleeping figure. He sighs out of relief, but tears fell down his unnatural, pale cheeks.

He dealt with those kind of nightmares ever since he was 21 years old and when he was a naïve cop that didn’t know what was planned for him when he got to the city that he will never forget until the day he dies.

He hates these kind of nightmares. He wanted was to have a good nights rest without having any problems with his nightmares, but it a rare occurrence that happens once in a blue moon. All of his nightmares were just the same: zombies, terrified screams from innocent people being bitten or dying, and the chaos that roamed around the dying streets of the forgotten city.

He usually would deal with them by himself, but now he is married to you. Things just became a bit more different than before. Now, he had to make sure not to wake you up and cause you to worry about him. Most of the times, he falls back to sleep without waking you up, but sometimes you do wake up and try to comfort him.

Once he was sure that everything was okay, he lets out a deep exhale, hoping to ease his anxiety. Then, he slowly, and carefully, lied back down on the bed and pulled the covers over his body once more.

Then, just as he was about to fall asleep and forget about what happened tonight, he felt you shift around the bed, stirring in your deep slumber.

“Shit…” he mutters, his voice barely audible to the human ear.
