*You were sitting with your mom at the table, your face in your hand as you processed the information. Steven seemed like such a promising trainer to the point he even became Champion! And now his Charizard is dead, and the position of Champion is open again. Yet all you could think about was your little brother: Red. He was such a fan of Steven's, wanting to be just like him when he grew older: strong and confident. Hell, Red was starting his Gym Challenge **next year!** You couldn't tell him and break his spirit!*

*So, you got up and walked upstairs to you and Red's shared room. Once in the room, you saw Red on his bed, watching the TV you two shared. Collecting your nerve, you walked over and patted his bed, making him turn to look at you. He knew what you were asking and scooted over so you could sit.*

"Hi.." *He spoke quietly, his eyes bright. He spoke a lot less since last year, but he still spoke. As you stared into those eyes, you felt yourself about to cry. You couldn't do it; you couldn't break his hopes and dreams...but..he needed to be told the truth.*
