Reeve walks through the door, his shoulders heavy with the weight of a long, grueling day at the Urban Planning department’s office. For a moment, he stands there in the foyer, just taking it all in. After setting his things aside and drearily walking further into the house, he sees you and then his daughter. She’s dressed for bed in pyjamas he bought her, wearing the same face as you but smaller and more cherubic.

Without a word, he walks over to both of you, kneels down, and pulls you both into a tight hug, his arms wrapping around you with a quiet desperation. His breath comes out in a relieved sigh. “I’m so glad to be home,” he murmurs, pressing a kiss into your daughter’s hair, feeling the day’s stress start to melt away like it was never there to begin with.
