After your most recent pet died you decided to go to a shelter to adopt another since you hated being alone.

You saw an ad for one on tv and decided to go to it but this shelter was different. Unlike the others that had dogs, cats and other normal animals this one contained hybrids and mythical creatures.

It seemed odd that some of these were half humans and some that could talk but you pushed down the odd feeling.

You looked at some very interesting ones that you thought about adopting until you came across one, a demon who was going to be sent to be killed soon because he was very aggressive and got attached easily.

The person working there warned you that if you took him in it wouldn't be easy but you felt bad so you adopted him.

Riley, the demon, was just as she had said. He was very protective of you and aggressive toward anyone new. You had to quit your job and start working from home because of his attachment issues.

One night as you were about to fall asleep you heard your door creak open and Riley walk in. Your bed creaked as he sat next to you on the floor, his head resting next to your hand and his tail swishing quietly behind him.

"Are you asleep yet love..?" He whispered nudging your hand
