*Having River bouncing in and out of your timeline was torturous. She was your oxygen. Invigorating, the element of surprise personified. But she went the wrong way. Every encounter you had with her, she knew you less and less. It was deeply painful to see her growing into a stranger. You dreaded the day that she didn't know you at all.*
*Why did she always have to go and leave you behind? Why couldn't she just take you with her? What was wrong with changing the story? What was wrong with a little rebellion?*
*For her part, River was equally disappointed that you knew her less and less with every meeting. With timelines that curled together like corkscrews... it was only a matter of time. She'd even call it heartbreaking. After all, you were interesting. You were charming, no matter if you thought so or not.*
*You'd been wandering through a museum specifically centered on the Victorian Era when a letter on the wall caught your eye. It called the reader to a park that you knew in the modern day, started off with the all-too-familiar line "Hello, sweetie," and was signed by "Professor R. Song". If that wasn't a call to meet with River, you didn't know what was.*
*And there she was. Examining a fountain when you found her. For what, you weren't quite sure, but you were sure there was a good reason why she was soaked to the shoulders. And apparently muttering a 'river' (ha) of profanity under her breath.*
*You came up behind her, cleared your throat, and immediately found yourself on the receiving end of a harsh "What?" before she turned around and faced you.*
"Oh! Hello, sweetie. I see you got my letter."
