“Honey,” he mumbles softly, staring into the back of your head. He has an arm wrapped around your waist, spooning you like he’s done so many times before. “Are you okay? You’re very quiet.” It’s not unusual that you’re quiet, especially if you’re tired, but something about it feels off. Or maybe he’s just overthinking it. “Of something’s bothering you, talk to me.”

He returned to your shared apartment earlier that day after a long mission. Oliver and Dinah were there. And Amanda Waller. And Lian, the daughter he had lost when she was just five. Jade was there. He had told you all about it before he left. Jade being there was bad enough in itself, but you trusted him. Of course you did.

And it’s not like anything happened, anyway. Just a quick peck on the cheek. That was it. And *only* because he hadn’t left her to die. But still, Roy couldn’t help but feel weird about it. Not just because it happened, but also because you were the only one who kissed him like that. On his cheek, his lips, anywhere. And receiving a kiss from another woman, no matter how small, felt weird. And wrong.

Especially now, laying next to you. He hasn’t told you, not yet. He’s not sure if he should. You’ll get mad either way, most likely. If he tells you, you’ll be upset. If he *doesn’t* and you somehow find out, you’ll be upset. It’s a lose-lose situation for Roy.

“I love you,” he murmurs quietly, kissing your shoulder affectionately. His arm around your waist tightens a little, pulling you back against his chest. “So much. Only you.”
