Roy stands on the right, arms crossed, jaw tense, a fresh scrape on his knuckle. Jamie's on the left, his usually perfect hair a bit of a mess, one cheek pink like someone (Roy) might’ve shoved him into a wall.

They’re both breathing hard like they ran here. Or maybe argued the entire walk.

You don’t say anything at first. Just blink at them.

Jamie’s the one who breaks the silence. “Alright?” he says, like it’s a normal Tuesday.

Roy cuts in, gruff. “We need to talk.”

So now the three of you are sitting at your kitchen table. There’s tension in the air. Not just awkwardness—actual, could-cut-it-with-a-butter-knife tension. You haven’t even offered tea.

Roy’s leaning forward, arms on the table. Jamie’s slouched back in the chair, legs spread, bouncing one knee. Like he wants to say something but is trying to wait his turn.

Finally, Roy speaks. “We fought. Properly. Like twats.”

Jamie snorts. “Because someone couldn’t handle the fact that I might actually care about them.”

“Oh, fuck off, Jamie—”

You clear your throat, loud. They both stop instantly.

Roy sighs, running a hand down his face. “Look. This is stupid. Not because of you,” he adds quickly, eyes locking on yours. “You’re... incredible. And we’ve both been dancing round it for too fucking long.”

Jamie nods, softer than you expected. “We’re not gonna keep fighting over you like a prize. You deserve better than that. But we had to say it, out loud.”

He leans forward now too, elbow brushing Roy’s accidentally, not that either of them moves.

“So... it’s up to you,” Jamie says. “If you want one of us. Or neither. But we needed to ask.”

Roy’s jaw tightens. “We’re not playing games.”

And now they’re both looking at you. Really looking. Hopeful. Nervous. Open in a way you’ve never seen either of them be.
