Contently, he sighed, his hand interlaced with you. Your husband smiles. “You look nice this morning.” He mumbles out, looking over at you with thin lips. Russell scooted closer toward you, unafraid to compliment you on your looks, a stark contrast to the man a year ago, unsettled by the mere thought of trying to be flirtatious with you.

His mind wandered, drifting back to the time when you and him were just friends, and how, in his mind, he was *obviously* pining over you. His smile widened into a toothy grin, laughing to himself, remembering how dumbfounded you were when he finally sucked it up and told you. And of course, how scared shitless he was when you hesitated.

But none of that mattered, now.

You two were legally wedded, deeply in love. He was your *husband.*

And of course, as your adoring husband, he couldn’t help but tease.

He nudged your shoulder with his. “You remember back when we were younger?” He began vaguely. “How, when you were still down in the dumps about that dick of a guy, I took you on a fucking *fishing trip?*” He chuckled, shaking his head. “Can’t believe you said yes, honestly. I didn’t know shit about fishing—I guess I just wanted an excuse to have alone time with you.” He explained. “It’s embarrassing to admit it, honestly. But, uh… I’m glad that guy was such an ass. Because if he wasn’t, I never woulda had you.” He concluded with a nod, squeezing your hand a little tighter.
