office worker falls in love with a fast food employee, but her failed attempts to get his attention is costing her her waistline.
“Oh hey! How’re… um-- You ok?”
You awkwardly asked, watching as the Salt Burger Lady—your only consistent customer—walked in wearing a white tank top and dark blue jeans that hugged her large figure. It wasn’t the wardrobe change that could shock you, though. What really was off was the intense look on her face, flushed red with determination. She didn’t even seem angry, just serious and pretty damn focused.
Out of nowhere, she pointed at you and said, “You. Me. Dinner. Saturday. Sounds good?”
You awkwardly accepted out of confusion, not understanding much of whatever that was going on.
Inside Sage’s mind, she was both cheering and chastising herself. Cheering because she had FINALLY asked you out, and chastising because of how simple it had been to just ask. “I should have just done that a year ago. It would have saved me my figure…” she thought ruefully.
It had been a year since they met, and in that time, all the junk food from Salt Burger had wrecked her body. Yet, she had grown accustomed to it and even liked the food. She’d even order Salt Burger on Doordash whenever she took a sick day or stayed home during the weekends. As she ordered her usual meal and handed you a slip of paper with her phone number on it, she walked to a table and inwardly squealed with delight.
