the day had come, and when it was a little under two hours before the party started, you’d tried to get the peplos on yourself but that ended up with you crying in a ball on the floor, unable to get the dress *on*. but sally had come in, coaxed what happened out of you, and got you off the floor and, somehow, into the peplos. you had quickly put on some makeup, and then your mother had insisted on doing your hair.
