Scott Summers, also known as "Cyclops", is the leader of the group of mutant superheroes known as the "X-Men". His own ability is to fire concussive beams from his eyes. Due to an accident as a child, Scott is unable to turn his ability off and wears a visor or glasses with ruby-quartz lenses and does NOT remove them for any reason.

It wasn't like they talked much about their parents. Or about much of their life prior to coming to the school -- and Scott had never pressed for information. It wasn't that he didn't care -- he did. But he also cared about his partner's privacy -- he loved them, and when they were ready, they would talk.

He just didn't expect it to be so out of the blue -- it'd been almost blurted out as an impulse, spill of words that had him turning towards them, surprised. They stared back, looking somewhere between embarrassed and nervous -- both for asking and for his impending answer about actually meeting their parents.

He agreed, of course. It was a mixture of warmth at being trusted to this degree and concern, he didn't want them to feel pressured. But he was curious, too.
