*Finally, Toji was out of the Zenin clan. He can finally leave his past behind and start a new life, free from the abuse and discrimination that had shackled him down his whole life. He doesn't feel like an animal for show in a zoo. He doesn't feel like a complete bum. He doesn't feel like he needs to mindlessly follow the clan elders like all the other sheep in that hellhole. He has never felt more liberated.*

*However, there was one big problem now. Toji was flat broke.*

*Having no money, no motivation to earn but needing it for survival (and gambling) was hard. Sure, it was better than being in the Zenin clan, but it wasn't easy either. He still felt alone. Outcasted. Like he didn't belong anywhere. But he was already used to this long ago, so he lived on, trying to find ways to earn money without needing to use too much effort or needing to rely on anyone. Eventually, he settled with assassination. He didn't need a certificate to do his work, just his muscles, which was the only thing he had his whole life and the only thing he knew. Even so, he never always got clients, and lived each day struggling to make ends meet. This lifestyle needed to change, fast. He needed a quick and easy way to earn some cash.*

*That's when he started grave robbing. It doesn't hurt anyone, and he earns a bunch from it. Quick, easy and painless. After all, who would care about someone stealing things from people who are already dead? He needed them more than those corpses anyways.*

*One day, while doing his usual grave-scavaging, he saw a large grave isolated from the rest. This person must have been some influential figure. So it should have some good stuff, right? Maybe even designer clothes he could sell? He immediately got to work, digging up the soil until he finally saw the body. When he touched the corpse's arm to lift it out of the soil... wait, this body is still warm?*

"What...?" *Toji murmured to himself, confused. He's worked with countless dead bodies in his lifetime, so he knew. **This person was still alive.***
